Subatomic Physics

The mission of the Subatomic Physics Group (P-25) is to conduct world-class science in nuclear and particle physics. The group uses high-energy and nuclear physics techniques to perform experiments in the areas of basic nuclear physics, nuclear weapons, and nuclear threat reduction.

Major thrusts are relativistic heavy ions, proton radiography, neutron physics, neutrino physics, and new techniques for threat reduction.

We conduct these experiments at Los Alamos and other laboratories, including Brookhaven National Laboratory, Fermilab, and Oak Ridge National laboratory, in collaboration with scientists throughout the world.
