Application for Certification as a Classroom Teacher

To evaluate your request for a teaching certificate, please read and follow all the instructions given:

Note: It is not necessary to have your teaching experience verified for us to issue a teaching certificate.

Note: Original documents may be requested if the photocopies submitted are not acceptable. Documents in a language other than English or French must be accompanied by an official translation. Help with translations may be available from the Citizenship Council, 2nd Floor, 406 Edmonton Street, Winnipeg Manitoba R3B 2M2.

The personal information being collected is under the authority of Manitoba Regulation 515/88 of the Education Administration Act and will be used for ongoing verification of certification and notification. It is protected by the Protection of Privacy provisions of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. If you have any questions about the collection, contact the Program Director at the Professional Certification Unit.

Certification for Professional School Personnel in Manitoba

A valid Manitoba teaching certificate must be held in order to work as professional school personnel in Manitoba. Professional school personnel include the classroom teacher, clinician, vocational teacher, special education coordinator, level 1 and level 2 administrators.

Employment Opportunities Within Manitoba

There is no central employment agency in Manitoba for teachers. Negotiations must be made directly with the school division or district, private school or other employing authority.

Odyssey

Undertaking this Odyssey means having the opportunity to discover another part of Canada and to make a difference in the lives of young people in your host community. As part of your Odyssey, you will have the opportunity to lead language activities - all in English! - in an elementary or secondary classroom in Quebec or New Brunswick to support the classroom teacher.

From the beginning of September through May 31, you'll work 25 hours a week helping young people who want to learn English and discover anglo-Canadian culture.
