Innovation in Natural Resource Management

Caring for Our Country   •

Funding for the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP) and the Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) ended in June 2008. They have been replaced by Caring for our Country, the Government's new natural resource management initiative. Caring for our Country is an integrated package with a single goal, a business approach to investment, clearly articulated outcomes and priorities and improved accountability. It consolidates delivery of the Natural Heritage Trust, the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality, the National Landcare Program, the Environmental Stewardship Program and the Working on Country Indigenous land and environmental program.

Caring for Our Country will address emerging issues in natural resource management and define the Australian Government’s role as a natural resource manager in partnership with key stakeholders, including industry.
