Title II Report on Teacher Preparation 02-03

Scholars Teacher Education Program

DSU

Teacher preparation is a historically rooted pursuit at DSU, where a high emphasis is placed on producing excellent educators. This serves as unmistakable proof of the Universitys institutional understanding of the great need for teachers in our society. Education students are prepared to navigate the challenges presented by the federal No Child Left Behind Act and leave DSU to become highly skilled teachers. Current Education majors receive hands on experience while working at the Delaware State University Early Childhood Lab School. The school serves three, four, and five year olds in small class settings.

In addition, new educational leadership masters and doctoral degree programs have been established to produce the next generation of creative and highly skilled school administrators. A popular option is the Masters and Doctorate of Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership. This program is designed for the development and certification of educational leaders who can lead and manage private and public K12 systems, higher education programs, and state, national and international educational organizations.
