Abstract : The development of reliable statistical models requires substantial databases. With the accumulation of detailed records on red wolf (Canis rufus) releases, it may be possible to develop a quantitative model to objectively assess factors that influence the probability of translocation success. We developed such a model based on information from free-ranging red wolves in the southeastern United States. These models will help managers determine the feasibility, time frame, protocols, and cost of reestablishing red wolf populations within selected areas of the historic range of the species in the Southeast.
