Giving Opportunities
Without a vital educational program that trains students to serve a host of needs throughout the natural resource and horticulture professions, the ability to effectively serve our clients is jeopardized.  NRES is committed to serve the professions through high quality educational programs that produce superior graduates. Your contribution to NRES adds tremendous value to the student’s classroom and field experiences and is an investment that will pay dividends in the professions well into the future.  By clicking on the buttons below, you can make an on-line donation directly via the University of Illinois Foundation.

Fund For Excellence

In response to our call for help to update antiquated equipment and provide more hands-on laboratory and field experience, a group of dedicated alumni and friends joined with NRES to create an annual giving fund called Fund for Excellence. Funds are put toward equipment and programs that directly enhance the student learning experience. An advisory committee comprised of donor representatives reviews how the funds are being used and makes recommendations on utilization of funds.

NRES Program Support

There are a number of program activities outside the classroom that support the overall outreach mission of NRES throughout the State of Illinois, such as Illinois Master Gardener and Junior Master Gardener, The University Arboretum, and The Illinois Steward quarterly magazine. There are other innovative research activities for which we are seeking funding support, such as the new South Farms Campus Plan (MILES – Multifunctional Integrated Landscape Experimental Site) involving Intentional Landscapes for Healthy Communities. For information on these or other programs contact NRES at getinvolved@nres.uiuc.edu.

Endowment Opportunities

How can you perpetuate indefinitely your vision of programs supported in NRES?

Endowed teaching, research, and/or extension programs are a high priority for NRES, as are professorships, chairs, and fellowships. One specific need is endowed faculty positions in horticulture and natural resources that focus on providing our students with the business and overall entrepreneurial skills they need to succeed. Additional endowment opportunities exist for specialized teaching laboratories and student scholarships. For information on these or other endowment opportunities, please contact us at getinvolved@nres.uiuc.edu.
