The Vice President and Vice Provost for Minority Affairs and Diversity of the University of Washington is Sheila Edwards Lange. A force for diversity in higher education, Lange views all areas of diversity--student, faculty, and staff diversity, curriculum, research, outreach, campus climate--as intertwined and interdependent. The Vice President and Vice Provost provides leadership for university-wide diversity initiatives and oversees a full spectrum of programs and services that foster institutional change on behalf of diversity.
Lange holds a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies and a master's degree in public administration from the UW. She earned her bachelor's degree in social ecology from the University of California, Irvine.
