The 2009 Legislative Session was a productive time for the BOLI: Commissioner Avakian's legislative agenda was met with broad support and 11 BOLI sponsored bills were passed with strong bipartisan majorities. In addition, cuts to BOLI's budget were substantially reduced by a last-minute budget restoration package. These restorations to BOLI's budget will bring back civil rights and wage and hour investigative staff, retain an apprenticeship representative in Medford, and enhance the Technical Assistance for Employers Program, which did not previously receive any state support.
