Roly Polies JMG Group
The Roly Polies JMG Group is made up of a group of some very enthusiastic young people. These students are developing their own garden, which began as an empty field of heavy clay soils. They now have many different plants growing from seeds, as well as grape vines, fruit trees, blackberries and other fruits and veggies that they can take home and enjoy. They are learning to compost and use earthworms to assist them in their efforts, and these students work very hard to make their garden into a living lab for them to grow as they learn.
The Roly Polies Group also reaches out to other youths wanting to start gardening program by receiving donations of organic soils for schools who want to start a school garden
The National Junior Master Gardener Group of the Month is selected for outstanding efforts in their school & community.Nominate your group as the National Junior Master Gardener Group of the Month For more information see feature in this month's Junior Master Gardener National Newsletter
"Students learn about Plant Growth & Development, become Wildlife Gardeners, or connect great books to the garden in a study of Literature in the Garden - and now there's research that shows that this program increases science achievment. I love this program!" JMG teacher
