"Biotechnology, Agronomy, Society and Environment" publishes original papers, research notes, review articles, summaries of books and theses as well as reviews of workshops and conferences in the fields of crop and animal productions and sciences, forest sciences, soil and earth sciences, rural engineering, environment, bioindustries, food technologies, economy and sociology.

Published by les Presses agronomiques de Gembloux, the journal is placed under the scientific authority of the University of Gembloux (FUSAGx) and of the Walloon Agricultural Research Centre (CRA-W).

Authors are scientists of the FUSAGx, of the Research Center on Nature, Forests and Wood (CRNFB) but the journal also welcomes relevant material from external authors who provide new insights and results in the concerned fields. Papers are published in French or in English, with summaries written in the two languages, and possibly in a third language. The articles from BASE are cited in the following international databases: AGRIS, Biological Abstracts, BIOSIS previews, CABI, Chemical Abstracts, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Environment Complete, Inside, Journal Citation Report, PASCAL, Web of Science (SciSearch) and Zoological Record.

BASE is a quarterly journal, appearing in March, June, September and December.
Volume 1 corresponds to the year 1997.

BASE is member of the "Association des Revues scientifiques et culturelles" (ARSC) and is also available on the "Portail de Publication de Périodiques scientifiques" (PoPuPS).
