Landcare Research is a wide variety of mapping and remote–sensing (satellite) services. Soil maps are available through Manaaki Whenua Press.
We maintain nationally significant databases including the National Soils Database (NSD), the Land Resource Inventory (NZLRI), and a number of applications for land resource management. LENZ categorises and maps environments at very localised to national scales; NVS is a system for recording vegetation throughout New Zealand. Assessment of environmentally sensitive areas (ESAs) draws on both land resource and biodiversity information.
