Annual Performance Measures
The Environmental Toxicology Section protects the health and safety of the public from environmental hazards by:
- Investigating and assessing potential health risks and reports of illnesses associated with environmental exposures to communicable disease agents or toxic substances.
- Reviewing public health aspects of environmental impacts statewide.
- Protecting public health by providing information about water quality, strengthening water quality standards at beaches, and promoting scientific research.
- Establishing and maintaining standards and regulating cleanup of clandestine drug lab sites.
- Ensuring that children and adults with lead poisoning receive appropriate care.
- Providing programs to inform the public about the risk of lead poisoning and how to prevent exposure.
- Certification and training of professionals working with lead-based paint and enforcement of lead-based paint regulations.
