The Road Map outlines the steps involved in site investigation and cleanup and introduces stakeholders to the range of technology options and available resources. The site provides additional features to assist users in finding information and locating resources.

Triad Resource Center
The Triad is an innovative approach to decision-making for hazardous waste site characterization and remediation. The Triad approach employs new characterization and treatment tools, using work strategies developed by innovative and successful site professionals. The Triad Resource Center provides the information that hazardous waste site managers and cleanup practitioners need to implement the Triad approach effectively. The Triad Web site provides an overview of Triad; information on its management, regulatory, and technical components; user experiences; and references and resources for additional information.

EPA Brownfields Cleanup and Redevelopment Internet Site
This Internet site coordinated by EPA's Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Redevelopment provides extensive information about EPA's Brownfields Program, including the Brownfields Law, EPA brownfields grants, and technical tools and resources as well as information about brownfields projects across the country. Descriptions of EPA's brownfields pilot projects and points of contact in each of the EPA regional offices are provided, as are descriptions of publications, regulations, and other documents. Brownfields stakeholders involved in selection and use of technologies for environmental cleanup may have particular interest in learning more about EPA's brownfields grant programs, which offer assessment grants, revolving loan fund grants, cleanup grants, and job training grants. Information is also provided on EPA's Targeted Brownfields Assessments (TBA) Program as well as state and tribal response programs. The site also contains routinely updated announcements related to grants and information on pilot projects and success stories. The site provides links to the Web sites of different cleanup programs managed by offices within the EPA Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER). For additional information, visit the Web site at www.epa.gov/brownfields.

EPA Dynamic Field Activities Internet Site
Provides information on the draft guidance for dynamic field activities and DFA case studies. For example, one case study provides cost and performance information for a soil and groundwater characterization at Hanscom Air Force Base. The site also provides additional information about systematic planning and dynamic work plans.

EPA ORD's Office of Science Policy Hazardous Substances Technical Liaison Program
The program was created jointly by EPA ORD, EPA OSWER, and the regional offices to expand the technical support available to regional staff.

EPA Post Construction Completion Guidance
The goal of Post Construction Completion activities is to ensure that Superfund response actions provide for the long-term protection of human health and the environment. EPA's Post Construction Completion activities also involve optimizing remedies to increase effectiveness and/or reduce cost without sacrificing long-term protection of human health and the environment.

EPA Smart Growth Implementation Assistance
EPA offers opportunities to apply for free technical assistance that will help communities apply smart growth principles to a real challenge in their community. The Development, Community and Environment Division in U.S. EPA's Office of Policy, Economics and Innovation periodically seeks applications from communities that want to develop in ways that meet environmental and other community goals. A team of multidisciplinary experts will provide technical assistance to communities that are selected. EPA solicits applications from communities that want help with either policy analysis (e.g., reviewing state and local codes, school siting guidelines, transportation policies, etc.) or public participatory processes (e.g., visioning, alternatives analysis, build-out analysis, etc.). Selected communities will receive assistance from a team of experts organized by EPA and other national partners to work with local leaders.

EPA Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) Program
The SITE Demonstration Program encourages the development and implementation of innovative treatment technologies for hazardous waste site remediation, monitoring, and measurement. The site provides engineering and cost data gathered on innovative technologies so that potential users can assess the technology's applicability to a particular site.

EPA Technical Support Project (TSP)
EPA TSP was established in 1987 by EPA Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER), Office of Research and Development (ORD), and regional waste management offices to provide technical assistance to regional RPMs and OSCs. The project consists of a network of regional forums, specialized technical centers located in ORD laboratories, and OSWER's environmental response team.

EPA's Environmental Technology Verification Program
EPA's ETV Program develops testing protocols and verifies the performance of innovative technologies that have the potential to improve protection of human health and the environment. ETV was created to accelerate the entrance of new technologies into the domestic and international marketplace.

EPA's Superfund Program on Abandoned Mine Lands

Federal Remediation Technologies Roundtable
The Federal Remediation Technologies Roundtable (FRTR) provides more than 300 case studies concerning use of remedial technologies in site cleanup, as well as more than 100 case studies about site characterization and monitoring technologies, and 7 reports about optimization of long-term monitoring.

Hazardous Substance Research Centers (HSRC)
EPA has established the program to develop better, cheaper, faster, and safer methods of assessing and cleaning up hazardous substances. HSRCs conduct their activities on a regional basis through five multiuniversity centers that focus on different aspects of the management of hazardous substances.

Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste Center of Expertise
Coordinated through USACE, the Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste Center of Expertise (HTRW-CX) provides technical assistance and information regarding use of innovative technologies for cleanup of contaminated properties. Detailed information about a variety of innovative technology resources, points of contact at the HTRW-CX, and upcoming training courses and workshops is provided on the center's Web site. More than 50 case studies of successful applications of innovative technologies also are described on the site. Visit the HTRW-CX Web site at www.environmental.usace.army.mil/info/technical/it/it.html for more information on the center's innovative technology programs.

International City/County Management Association (ICMA)
Sponsors, develops, and implements a number of programs that provide managers and administrators in local governments with expertise on a variety of topics. One area in which ICMA can offer expertise is the Brownfields/Superfund Consortium, which helps local governments address the financial, legal, technical, and public health concerns associated with brownfields and Superfund sites.

State Coalition for Remediation of Drycleaners
