Ray Tretheway has a long history with non-profit organizations.
He was founding president of the National Alliance for Community Trees,
and served on the board of California Releaf, the National Urban and
Community Forestry Advisory Council, Natomas Basin Conservancy, and
currently serves as executive director of the Sacramento Tree Foundation.
He also is an elected councilmember for the City of Sacramento. |

Randy Miller joined PacifiCorp in 1993, and has been
the System Forester for seven states with that utility since March
1999. He has more than 30 arboricultural-related writing credits,
including contributions to the Journal of Arboriculture, Arborist
News, the Journal of Forestry, and Golf Course Management. He speaks
widely on arboricultural, urban forestry, and utility forestry related
topics. Randy has a BS in Horticulture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
and an MS in Urban Forestry from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens
Point. He is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified
Arborist and Certified Utility Specialist. He is a past member the
ISA Certification Test Committee and serves on the Editorial Board
of the Journal of Arboriculture. He has a broad background in urban
forestry and arboriculture, having worked in the commercial, institutional
and governmental sectors before becoming involved in utility arboriculture. |

Tom Prosser is founder and owner of Rainbow Treecare,
a Minnesota-based company started in 1987. Rainbow is one of the 15
largest tree-care companies in the United States. Tom also started
Rainbow Treecare Scientific in 1999 in partnership with Syngenta Crop
Protection to develop plant-health products for arborists. Rainbow
Treecare Scientific currently owns the rights to three major products
used by arborists all over the United States - Arbotect, Alamo, and
Cambistat. This company's commitment is to advance the science of
tree care by creating protocols that get predictable results for arborist
practitioners. Rainbow Treecare Scientific is highly committed to
research with a full-time manager over 50 research projects all over
the United States. Tom attended the University of Minnesota, where
he studied biology and business over 7 years. He is a member of the
board of directors of the International Society of Arboriculture Tree
Fund and the Tree Fund Research committee. Tom has been a member of
the Tree Care Industry Association since 1987 and the ISA since 1992.
He is a certified arborist. Tom is also the president of the school
board for Hill School, a small nonprofit K-8 school in Orono, Minnesota. |

Janette K. Monear is the Director of Urban & Community
Forestry for the Tree Trust (
Minnesota
) where she developed
the Time for Trees outdoor learning program, the Trade-a-Tree program
with utilities, and a grant program that helps communities replace
hazardous trees under power lines with small-stature trees. She works
closely with the MN Department of Natural Resources, local government
planners, foresters and soil and water conservation district professionals
to develop comprehensive programs for protecting and managing community
forest resources for maximum benefit for the environment -- especially
in rapidly growing communities. She also developed TreeOrd, an interactive
CD-ROM for local governments to write tree ordinances, a Community
Tree Planting Manual and the new Open Spaces-Clean Water guidebook.
Monear began work in community forestry as an Anoka County Extension
Specialist for Oak Wilt. She is active with the Minnesota Society
of Arboriculture, National Alliance for Community Trees, Regional
Tech Transfer Committee of the USDA Forest Service, Minneapolis Park
& Recreation Tree Commission, and serves on the Arboretum Advisory
Council for
Saint Johns
University
. Monear is a frequent speaker
and panelist at regional and national environmental and land-development
conferences.

Diane L. Gleason has 20-plus years of experience in
sustainability planning and environmental protection, and more recently,
event planning. Her work has focused on bringing together disparate
groups to find innovative solutions to environmental and other issues.
In her 6-year tenure as Environmental Director with Salt Lake 2002,
Diane planned and execution several global-scale programs to improve
the environment, as well as setting sustainability policy for the
International Olympic Committee.
Diane started and managed three successful consulting businesses.
Meridian Environmental Associates, helped local businesses with
hazardous waste and air-quality issues. The second, MakaCante LLC,
works with American Indians on environmental issues, fundraising
and event planning. Diane is also a founding member of Epiphany
Works LLC, an event-planning company. Diane's work in government
included leading roles with the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources,
and also as State Geologist.
Diane graduated with an MA degree in geology from the State University
of New York in New Paltz. She is a graduate of the Penn State Management
Program for women, and serves on two boards, the Athens Environmental
Foundation and the Desert Dove Farms Board. Diane is the recipient
of the Power of One Award from the Earth Communications Office,
the "green" branch of Hollywood.
Diane lives on a small horse farm in Chippewa, PA, where she raises
and trains paint horses.

James Benson, AICP
Jim is the COO of Gray Hill Solutions in Seattle. He is an urban
and technology planner with over 15 years of experience, including
three years as a planner on Seattle's Regional Transit Project (subsequently
Sound Transit). His experience includes authoring long-range technology
and operational plans; growth management, database development and
institutional-issues analysis. Jim was a pioneer in designing web
presences for government. He has built complex web-based systems
for Portland Metro, US Customs, the City of Phoenix and the Arizona
Department of Transportation.
Jim is an expert in using technology to support communities like
TreeLink. He has been involved with urban forestry for 8 years,
created urban forestry management software and participated in many
panel discussions regarding the applications of advanced technology
to urban forestry.
Jim's practice has long centered on getting groups of professionals
in different areas to work together toward common goals. The Gray
Hill Team has extensive experience in web design, on-line communities,
research, planning and writing.

Jason San Souci is Vice President of Geospatial Applications at NCDC Imaging & Mapping. He is a certified GIS professional and ESRI and VLS authorized instructor. Jason holds a Bachelor's degree from the United States Air Force Academy and a Master's degree from the University of Colorado. He has managed the successful completion of numerous large-scale remote sensing and GIS projects throughout the United States over the past five years, and has served as faculty and speaker at several internationally-recognized workshops on remote sensing and GIS. Jason's methods and algorithms have been published in a number of industry journals and international conference proceedings.

Dr. Mike Kuhns' received his B.S. in Forestry in 1977 from the
University of Missouri and his M.S. in Forest Ecology/Tree Physiology
from Missouri in 1980. After working two years for the Medicine
Bow National Forest, he returned to school in 1982 and received
a Ph.D. from Auburn University in 1986, specializing in tree stress
physiology. From January, 1986 to April, 1992 he held the position
of Assistant Professor in charge of Extension Forestry for Nebraska,
where he also researched the effects of water stress on various
tree species. Since May, 1992 he has held the position of Extension
Forester at Utah State University in the Department of Forest Resources,
and now holds the rank of Associate Professor. His programming in
extension involves urban and community forestry, trees and forestry
in the wildland-urban interface, and rural/conservation forestry.
He also has taught a course in environmental education and conducts
research on urban tree culture, urban forestry, non-industrial private
forest landowners' practices and motivations, and on the wood products
industry. Mike was Acting Head of the Forest Resources Department
at USU for a year in 2000-2001 while his department head was on
sabbatical.Corporation in Florida, and is currently completing a
MS degree in engineering management. |

Pierre Gohier was born and raised in Montreal, Canada.
He graduated from McGill University with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical
Engineering and worked as a design engineer in Florida for several
years, earning 2 patents with FMC corporation. He earned an MBA and
a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah, and
has worked in the telecommunications industry as a network/system
engineer for the last twelve years. Mr. Gohier currently works for
Advanced Telcom, a division of GE, and is completing a masters degree
in Engineering Management.

Sherri Vance is a Lead Instructional Designer at Allen
Communication, with over ten years experience designing and writing
classroom instruction, web-based training, and CD-ROM-based interactive
instruction. She was involved in acquiring the initial funds to start
TreeLink, proposing its initial site elements, and helping with its
initial construction. After ending her active involvement in the production
and maintenance of TreeLink, she has continued to follow its progress
and evolution, and now serves on the TreeLink Board as Secretary.

Steve Weisser has been working in the media production industry
for 25 years. He is the founder of Compass Rose Media, a full-service
digital media-production agency specializing in film and video production,
motion graphics, 2D and 3D animation, Flash production and web production.
As executive producer, he oversees all projects and has built this
successful business by taking advantage of new technologies to present
ideas in unique and powerful ways.
Steve received a B.S. in Television Production in 1979 from the
State University of New York at Fredonia and worked for several
years in New York City at several television networks and independent
post-production companies. In 1983, Steve moved to California as
an independent editor and producer, receiving two Emmy awards for
his editing work at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Korea. He started
Compass Rose Media in 1992, and is currently developing an interactive
Urban Forestry presentation. |

Sara McClure
Sara McClure is a big idea thinker for Entercom, the fifth largest
radio group in the industry, and is known for bridging marketing
partnerships and driving revenue development. She began her career
in marketing 13 years ago and excels in cross-platform regional
and national marketing opportunities.
Throughout her years, she has created marketing sponsorships with
corporations. Sara has vast knowledge of broadcast advertising and
marketing mediums. She has the sales and idea abilities to tap into
the billions of dollars spent each year on promotions and marketing
programs outside the traditional media budgets.
Sara graduated from CSU Chico with a degree in Communications and
an option in Graphic Arts. She recently won Entercom's Over Achiever
award. |

Dr. Frederick J. Deneke
A native of Beloit, Kansas, Fred Deneke has a Ph.D. in Horticulture
from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. After serving in the
US Army
from 1970-73 with the Corps of Engineers Laboratory in Fairbanks,
Alaska, Fred returned to Kansas State as an assistant professor, where
he developed one of the first Urban and Community Forestry college
courses in the nation and co-authored the first university textbook
on Urban Forestry.
Fred served in key leadership positions since joining the U.S. Forest
Service in 1977. He served as a Legislative Fellow on Capitol Hill,
and
became National Program Leader at the USDA Extension Service. In 1980,
Fred was assigned to the U.S. Forest Service National Headquarters
as National Urban Forestry Coordinator for Cooperative Forestry, leading
the "America the Beautiful" National Tree Planting Initiative
after helping to write the expanded language for Urban and Community
Forestry in the 1990 Farm Bill. In 2000 Fred took on an Intergovernmental
Personnel Assignment at the University of Arizona. Fred retired after
32 years of federal service in July 2005. |
