Sailing

Sailing is a popular activity on many of Colorado's lakes and reservoirs. Our mild winters often allow sailing enthusiasts to enjoy eight or more months of the sport each year.

Over 16 Colorado lakes and reservoirs offer full-service marinas where you can rent a boat slip on a seasonal basis or take a sailboat out for the day. See the Colorado Boatable Waters Directory.

Adult and youth sailing instruction is offered by the Denver Sailing Association, the U.S. Sailing Association and Community Sailing of Colorado.

Don't forget to bring the following on your sailing excursions:

  • All required safety equipment for your vessel, including a Personal Flotation Device for everyone on board
  • Bathing suit and towel
  • Suncreen
  • Hat
  • Non-slip, non-black-soled, closed toed shoes
  • Windbreaker and/or sweatshirt
