Permaculture Design Course to Be Offered In Portland OR

Toby Hemenway and guests will offer a weekend intensive certificate program for Permaculture Design in Portland, OR starting January of 2009. A variety of permaculture design prinicples, soil ecology, community economics and more will be the focus of this program.

Toby Hemenway and guests will offer a weekend intensive certificate program for Permaculture Design in Portland, OR starting January of 2009.  A  variety of permaculture design prinicples, soil ecology, community economics and more will be the focus of this program.

Permaculture uses ecological principles to design integrated systems of food production, housing appropriate technology, and community development.  Its aim is to the creation of a sustainable human settlements that are harminiously woven int the environment and have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems.

Expert guest instructors will assist at the course, which is adapted toa a variety of learning styles and is taugh via lecture, images, video, group discussion, exercises and design projects.  It is appropriate for homeowners, educators, planners, architects, landscape professionals, farmers and gardeners.

Course graduates will receive a permaculture design certificate from the Permaculture Institute (USA), an increasingly desirable professional credential.
