About IATP Trade and Global Governance

Zan Spieldoch "Global trade and investment rules have not reduced poverty around the globe. Nor have they protected our fragile ecosystems and promoted human rights. We are working with civil society around the world to build a new global system that puts people and communities first, supports family farmers and the environment, and ensures that everyone has enough to eat."

—Alexandra Spieldoch
Director, IATP Trade and Global Governance

Our work

Trade and Global Governance works to democratize the multilateral system of policymaking. We strengthen the voice of civil society by linking social movements working on trade, finance, development, peace and security, human rights, labor, gender, the environment and corporate accountability.

GLOBAL COOPERATION
We support a foundation of human rights, social development and environmental stewardship upon which economic development can prosper.

BLUE MOUNTAIN GLOBAL GOVERNANCE NETWORK
This network is coordinating global action to transform the institutional and legal structures of the multilateral system.

GENETIC ENGINEERING
We work in the U.S. and globally to ensure genetically engineered foods are proven safe before they enter the marketplace.

HUMAN RIGHTS
We work to support food and water as fundamental human rights.

TRADE AND INFORMATION PROJECT
From our office in Geneva, Switzerland, IATP's Trade Information Project follows global negotiations at the United Nations and the World Trade Organization.

TRADE AND AGRICULTURE
We support efforts in the U.S. and around the globe to forge stronger and fairer multilateral trade rules.

Global Dialogue
We work with organizations in the United States and European Union to reform agriculture policies.
