Career Development Initiative Activities

The Career Development Initiative has spawned a number of activities. These activities have been administered by four committees comprised of representatives of a number of Provincial government departments that work collaboratively to coordinate the development and maintenance of programs, services and resources.

The Programming committee is working to ensure that the goals of the Career Development Framework are supported through planning and collaboration on the development and delivery of quality programs, resources and services. They have focused on the integration of career development into departmental programs to increase access to quality resources and supports necessary for Manitobans to develop the career management skills necessary to work and adapt effectively to the needs of the workplace.

The Information Management committee has been tasked with ensuring that information on services, resources and programs is shared with Manitobans and easily accessed by them. They work on identifying areas where information gaps exist and then work with provincial government and external agencies to address the situation. This website is a tangible result of this committee's efforts.

The Communications committee has taken on the task of developing increased awareness of the benefits of self-directed career development and encouraging individual Manitobans to find their own career path. They have worked to further this message both within government and to all Manitobans: residents of all ages, employers and practitioners.

The Research, Outcome & Evaluation committee has developed an evaluation plan addressing major areas identified in the Career Development Initiative. They are collecting data, conducting analysis and developing reports on the progress of the Initiative. This will help guide the work of other committees and help share information on promising practice relevant to career development.
