Systems and Operations
IT Systems and Operations provides much of the behind-the-scenes work that makes communication and computers on
campus work. Systems and Operations consists of these key areas:
Facilities, Systems, and Operations
- Offers system and application monitoring and Outage Notification Process for the data centers housing Purdue's
production infrastructure systems
- Provides service management and project management for infrastructure-related and customer components and efforts
Infrastructure Services
- Administers Windows, Mainframe, and UNIX systems as well as enterprise storage assets including SAN, NAS, and
backup hardware and associated management software
Current initiatives and projects
- Machine room expansion: Manages space to access existing systems and enable growth, disaster recovery, and
business continuity support
- Upgrade to Oracle: Implements the 10g version of this database environment in two phases
- Web-hosting re-architecture: Designs a new, robust web-hosting environment with new versions of Tomcat, Apache,
ColdFusion, and more
