Systems and Operations

IT Systems and Operations provides much of the behind-the-scenes work that makes communication and computers on campus work. Systems and Operations consists of these key areas:

Facilities, Systems, and Operations

  • Offers system and application monitoring and Outage Notification Process for the data centers housing Purdue's production infrastructure systems
  • Provides service management and project management for infrastructure-related and customer components and efforts

Infrastructure Services

  • Administers Windows, Mainframe, and UNIX systems as well as enterprise storage assets including SAN, NAS, and backup hardware and associated management software

Current initiatives and projects

  • Machine room expansion: Manages space to access existing systems and enable growth, disaster recovery, and business continuity support
  • Upgrade to Oracle: Implements the 10g version of this database environment in two phases
  • Web-hosting re-architecture: Designs a new, robust web-hosting environment with new versions of Tomcat, Apache, ColdFusion, and more
