ACTION ALERT! Ag, hunger, enviro groups seek food-policy transformation

A new coalition of groups with extensive experience in farming and food issues says it’s time for a transformation in food policy.

The US Working Group on the Food Crisis is an ad hoc group of organizations from around the U.S., representing various sectors of the food system, including anti-hunger, family farm, community food security, environmental, international aid, labor, food justice, consumer and other groups. Their perspective is that the current food crisis is not new, due to circumstances of the past year, but is the inevitable consequence of the development of a long list of misguided agricultural and food policies over the last 30 years.

The groups are petitioning the Obama administration to initiate wholesale change in the U.S. and worldwide food system will allow us to address these problems sustainably and equitably. Full story and action steps: usfoodcrisisgroup.org
