ACTION ALERT! Organic dairy producer groups request many changes in access to pasture rule

Working diligently to balance the pasture and seasonal differences of organic dairy producers in different regions of the U.S., a coordinating group urges comments be sent by the deadline of December 23. The Federation of Organic Dairy Farmers (FOOD Farmers) is the umbrella organization, representing several regional groups.

A 26-page proposed “Access to Pasture” rule from the USDA’s National Organic Program has been the focus of intense discussion due to its mixture of provisions that include long-sought specificity as well as many items deemed impractical, impossible and significantly damaging by many farmers.

Comments from organizations or individuals must be submitted in a prescribed format and received in Washington, D.C., by Dec. 23. FOOD Farmers letter
