NRSA Training Fund History
Since 1986, AHRQ has supported Individual Postdoctoral Fellowship and
Institutional Training Program grants from a set aside of funds provided to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for National Research Service Awards (NRSA). Beginning in FY 1993, AHRQ's
allocation of NRSA funds increased from .5 percent to 1 percent of NRSA
appropriation. From FY 1990 through FY 1995, and beginning again in FY 1999,
AHRQ used budget authority to supplement NRSA dollars.
