The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has awarded the
following grants for research initiatives designed to build and strengthen the
Nation's research infrastructure.
The Minority
Research Infrastructure Support Program (M-RISP) is to increase the health services research capacity of academic institutions that predominantly or substantially serve minority racial and ethnic minority populations. Institutions funded through this program—as well as their faculty—will receive grants to improve their ability to conduct health services research that is capable of being disseminated, implemented, and translated into practice and policy. The intent of the research infrastructure grant program is to strengthen the research environment in minority institutions by developing and/or expanding existing capacities for conducting research in health services.
The Building
Research Infrastructure and Capacity Program (BRIC) will enhance the
competitiveness for research funding among institutions located in states where
successful applications for funding has been historically low. In 2001, over
$1.7 million for six projects went to institutions in Kentucky, Louisiana,
Mississippi, New Jersey, Utah, and a consortium involving Idaho, Montana,
Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming.
