These toilet top sinks are great! They do reduce water consumption and don't have a negative affect on your toilet's function.
However, "new product" and "innovative" are hardly what I would use to describe them. These have been used in Japan for years. I lived there from 1992 till 2002. When I got there, these toilet sinks were old.
Sushi isn't the only good idea to come out of Japan! :o)

I bought one of these from Real Goods and my family loves it! As a health care professional, I know that it's soap and fresh water that cleans hands, not hot/warm water. The benefits of having the kids to even rinse their hands every time and not touch the faucets have been a big relief. Plus, it's hard to walk over to the sink using more water to wash your hands while the SinkPositive is still running. And it even feels worse if you stand at the sink letting the water run while waiting for warm water. It's a great Japanese idea that has finally made it here.

This sounds like a wonderful idea. However, as a healthcare professional, it would not be one of my recommendations as my training teaches me that the toilet is an unclean place therefore you would not be effectively cleaning up after toileting specially if there is not hot water. I doubt I would want to keep a bar of soap on it either.

I'm sure the SinkPositive is a great idea for some, especially for limited space and/or public applications. Even still, $89 for plastic seems a bit over priced. We'll stick with the, "If it's yella' save it for the next fella', if it's brown. flush it down," method for now (Thanks, Dustin Hoffman).

this sounds like a great idea, except BRRRRR cold water. For someone with arthritis in my hands cold water is the last thing I want to be washing my hands with.

Some years ago I had a problem with moles. I fought them and sometimes won. Now with some time passing my septic tank was giving me some headache too with the fingers not being long enough for good drainage. The results were not good some rainy days. Well in the battle with the moles I learned something by deduction. The mole will make surface tunnels to hunt its food but it would seem it has deeper tunnels to traverse the yard to new feeding grounds so that one thinks he has more then one mole when if fact the mole merely uses his deeper hole to go to new hunting grounds. While cussing the mole one rainy day lo and behold I noticed something interesting- the septic fingers were not as bad! The mole had both loosened the dirt at the surface aiding the aeration of the fingers but the deep tunnels apparently were carring septic water away also. Now the mole was my friend!

My aunt has one of these tank lids in a bath near her basement entry. She is an avid gardener and this is a wonderful tool for her to use. I thought it was a terrific water saving idea.

Here's one of many ways to get rid of moles or gophers digging up your yard. If you don't want to spend money on smoke bombs, etc, you can make a "smoke bomb" of your own. Just dig down until you find a tunnel, take a piece of paper towel, wind it up and stick it into the tunnel as far as possible, and then light it with a match. Wait until the flame is going good, then cover with dirt. This will cut off oxygen, and flood the tunnel with smoke!
