Ziff now serves at the epitome of modern, innovating digital publishing
Vivek Shah is CEO of Ziff Davis, a leading digital media company specializing in the gaming, technology and men’s lifestyle categories.
Shah was formerly group president, digital at Time Inc., overseeing its news, business and sports properties, including Time.com, Life.com, CNNMoney.com, SI.com, FanNation.com, Golf.com and SIKids.com. Previously, Shah served as president of the Fortune/Money Group, which included the magazines Fortune, Money and Fortune Small Business and the website CNNMoney.com. Prior to that, Shah served as president of digital publishing of the group where he oversaw the launch of CNNMoney.com, the Web’s largest vertical business site.
Shah has been named Online Publisher of the Year by MIN, Innovator of the Year by BtoB’s Media Business and inducted into MIN’s Digital Hall of Fame. Shah was also named to Crain’s Forty under 40 list. He has a B.A. in political science from Tufts University.
Horowitz was formerly president of OurWeddingDay.com, a division of David’s Bridal, where he oversaw all aspects of OurWeddingDay.com and was responsible for developing strategic partnerships for the parent company. Prior to that, Horowitz was senior vice president, general manager at Bankrate Inc., the leading aggregator of personal finance and mortgage content. At Bankrate, he directed product and business strategy and spearheaded the portal’s transformation into one of the leading destinations that allowed consumers to research and purchase consumer financial products, ranging from mortgages to deposit products to credit cards.
Prior to Bankrate, Horowitz served as vice president of e-commerce classifieds at AOL and held director positions in business and sales strategy for classifieds and local properties with Yahoo! and GeoCities. He also served as associate director of internet marketing for BMG Music Club (Bertelsmann), director of internet venues at eDrive.com and as online publicist for Turner Entertainment Group at Turner Broadcasting Systems, Inc.
Horowitz received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English from the State University of New York at Oswego.
Prior to that, Brian was CFO of Crown Media Holdings, Inc, a public company operating cable programming networks. Brian also held various finance positions at Hallmark Entertainment, Univision, Hallmark Cards, Inc, and Ernest and Young. He holds a B.S. from the University of Kansas and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Yaffe co-founded FUEL:M+C (Media + Commerce), an early stage investor in digital media and commerce companies, including Maker Studios (sold to Disney), Bureau of Trade (sold to Ebay), and StyleSaint. Previously, Yaffe was a partner in Terry Semel’s Windsor Media, which made investments in Square, Jagex and Scopley, among others.
Yaffe helped start the corporate consulting practice at the Endeavor Talent Agency. He also led Endeavor’s media and technology practice and expanded platform and content development opportunities with artists and corporate clients. James started his career at BBDO in New York.
James is currently on the Board of The Yaffe Center for Persuasive Communications at the University of Michigan. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, marketing and communications from the University of Michigan, where he was also the captain of the golf team.
Prior to coming to Ziff Davis, Fortuna served as Senior Vice President of Engineering for VINDICO Group, the first ad-serving and tracking platform dedicated exclusively to video. VINDICO sold to Specific Media in 2010. Prior to that, Fortuna served as VP of Engineering at Quigo (bought by AOL in 2007). Fortuna got his start in Internet technology in 1994 as one of the 13 founders of Pseudo.com – the Internet’s first full-scale video network.
Fortuna holds patents for algorithmic methods of content production, data mining and contextual summarization, a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Columbia University.
Prior to joining Ziff Davis, Hicks served as General Counsel and Secretary for: MTM Technologies Inc. a publicly traded IT services provider and product reseller; OutlookSoft Corp. a VC backed international financial software corporation acquired by SAP; and AMICAS Inc. (formerly VitalWorks) a publicly traded medical software corporation.
Hicks also worked on the executive staff of Dennis Vacco, the New York State Attorney General; and was an associate at a New York law firm.
Diane has more than 20 years of experience consulting and collaborating with senior leadership and functional teams in both corporate and entrepreneurial organizations. She has built HR teams to drive organizational growth. Particular emphasis is on ensuring a high level of employee satisfaction by creating programs that are customized to the locations and cultures of the various company brands. She has performed acquisition due diligence to analyze and recommend organization changes and integrated total rewards. Her experience includes opening new locations, working on talent acquisition and retention strategies and establishing fair and equitable work environments.
Diane earned a bachelor’s degree from Baruch College and an MBA from Fordham University. She lives in New York City with her family.
