The Annual Meeting typically draws hundreds of reporters, editors, producers, and freelance writers from nearly 40 different countries, including media outlets such as the Associated Press, Reuters, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Boston Globe, Financial Times, The Guardian, Süeddeutsche Zeitung, and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The Newsroom is also open to public information officers from national and international institutions, including Argonne, Fermi, and Brookhaven national labs, CERN, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Cornell University, Columbia University, European Commission, Google, Harvard University, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Imperial College London, Indian Institute of Science, Johns Hopkins University, Max Planck Institutes, and more.
Newsroom Breakfast SOLD
A press breakfast can be hosted on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday morning between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. for about 100 Newsroom registrants.
Newsroom Coffee Lounge
This high-profile area places your company at a point of strategic access to nearly 1,000 Newsroom registrants from around the world. Coffee can be served, with or without pastries, over a two-hour period in the morning on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, or the lounge can be exclusively sponsored.
- Access to the Newsroom for one non-media representative, such as the CEO or president of your organization, either on the day chosen or throughout the meeting depending on sponsorship level
- A spot specifically for your organization's press kits and general information, either on the day chosen or throughout the meeting depending on sponsorship level
Newsroom Technology Center
This high-profile center is used by the news media over the course of five days. It features Internet access, computer and laptop terminals, and printers used by reporters and science writers to file stories daily. This sponsorship opportunity includes:
- Opportunity to display media kits and other materials
- Access to the Newsroom for one non-media representative, such as the CEO or president of your organization
- Press badges, which include free meeting admission and full access to the exclusive Newsroom area, for up to two public relations professionals
- Recognition of sponsorship on materials that will be distributed to all Newsroom registrants as part of the meeting registration packet
- Recognition of sponsorship on all official event signage
- A banner at the event entrance and recognition of sponsorship of this event in the Program Book and Pocket Guide
EurekAlert! Reception
Hosted by EurekAlert!, this exclusive event is open only to AAAS Annual Meeting Newsroom registrants, and The EurekAlert! press reception will be open exclusively to some 1,000 Newsroom registrants who are expected to convene at the AAAS Annual Meeting, representing all major U.S. and many prestigious international news operations. Strong press participation in the AAAS Annual Meeting ensures global coverage of new, emerging, and innovative research and programs presented at the Meeting. The reception will be held Friday, 13 Feb., from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.; specialty appetizers and beverages. Sponsorship includes:
- Opportunity to display media kits and other materials at the reception
- Press badges, which include free meeting admission and full access to the exclusive Newsroom area, for up to two public relations professionals
- Recognition of sponsorship on reception invitations, which will be distributed to all Newsroom registrants as part of the meeting registration packet
- Recognition of sponsorship on the official reception Web page on EurekAlert!, as well as on the AAAS Annual Meeting Web site. The EurekAlert! Web site now serves more than 6,000 registered reporters working in 60 different countries, across all media.

International Reporters Reception SOLD
AAAS invites international news media attendees to a welcome reception. This event typically draws 300 to 500 registrants, including reporters representing all of London's elite "broadsheet" newspapers, the top three dailies of Paris, the BBC, and many of the most prestigious media outlets in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Brazil, Australia, and other countries. It will be held on Thursday, 12 Feb., from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. Specialty appetizers and beverages are served. Sponsorship includes:
- Opportunity to display media kits and other materials
- Access to the Newsroom for one non-media representative, such as the CEO or president of your organization
- Press badges, which include free meeting admission and full access to the exclusive Newsroom area, for one public relations professional
- Recognition of sponsorship on materials that will be distributed to all Newsroom registrants as part of the meeting registration packet
- Signage at the event entrance
- Recognition on all invitations
- A prominent reference at the event
- Recognition through on-site signage
