Distribution Statements and Copyright

Distribution Statements
Beyond the provisions of security classifications, all documents must carry distribution statements that describe conditions for their distribution, release, or disclosure. DoD 5230.24, Distribution Statements on Technical Documents, prescribes limitations for distribution of DoD documents. The 'Submitting Documents' Web page provides detailed descriptions of distribution statements. The 'DTIC Contributor's Handbook' web page also provides some guidance on distribution statements.

Copyright
Documents containing copyrighted information may be accepted if written statements are provided by copyright owners granting the Government royalty-free, non-exclusive, and irrevocable license to use, distribute and reproduce the work. Where necessary, disclaimer statements may be solicited from copyright holders.
