Answer: According to the Fall 2005 TRU Study, the average teen:
  • Drinks more than 10 soft drinks in a given week;
  • Eats more than five servings of salty snacks weekly;
  • Consumes more than three candy bars or packages per week.

How much did students spend in college stores in the 2004-2005 school year?

Answer: In 2004-05, students spent an average of $720 in the college store. The latest data is from the 2006 College Store Industry Financial Report. No change was seen in the median (midpoint) amount of student spending from 2003-04. Median student spending remained $657 in 2004-05.
College stores sell a variety of items, ranging from textbooks to toothpaste. The percentage of sales in each category will vary by store depending on both the size of the school served and whether it is a two-year or four-year institution.
