Awards and Recognition

On Tuesday evening, November 11, 2008 the Gamma Sigma Delta Fall Awards Banquet was held. Four institute faculty awards were presented and two of those awards went to a couple of our faculty members.

 

Burt English Dr. Burt English

received the 2008-2009 Faculty "Excellence in Research award. This award recognizes Dr. English's career contribution to agricultural research at The University of Tennessee
John Riley Dr. John Riley

received the 2008-2009 "Distinguished Achievement in Agriculture" award. this award recognizes Dr. Riley's professional achievements and his contribution and support for hte Gamma Sigma Delta chapter on campus as well as national/international officer of GSD.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Three of our graduate students were inducted into the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society. They were

To be eligible for induction into Gamma Sigma Delta, graduate students must:

1) Have completed at least 12 semester hours of the required graduate course work (excluding thesis or dissertation credits) and attained a 3.50 average or better for graduate credit at The University of Tennessee applicable to the advanced degree being sought;

2) Have been nominated and endorsed by two Gamma Sigma Delta members (at least one a faculty member) who regard the nominee as having personal qualities, including leadership ability, that give evidence of making worthwhile contributions in their field and as having demonstrated ability to conduct research and/or advanced study in agriculture or related sciences.
