POSITION:

Research Geneticist (Animal)

LOCATION:

Clay Center, NE

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located in the Genetics and Breeding Research Unit at the U. S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC), Clay Center, NE. The incumbent will perform a whole genome analysis for detection of QTL and markers for Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) resistance using phenotypes from the USMARC diagnosis record database and genotypes from approximately 50,000 single nucleotide polymorphisms.  Resulting markers and genomic regions will be examined for effects on other phenotypes.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Genetics, Animal Health or a closely related field is required.  Demonstrated statistical skills and data management experience are strongly preferred.  Knowledge of immunology or epidemiology is desirable.
