Testimonials

In an era where micro-credentials, digital credentials, and new learning models like CBE are gaining traction, the work of the IMS community to re-imagine a new type of record to better serve students, universities, and employers is exhilarating! Developing a comprehensive, digital, student record to better articulate what students know and can do speaks to the needs of 21st century employers.

Houston ISD started requesting Common Cartridge (CC), Thin Common Cartridge (TCC) and Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integrations from its partners in July of 2014 to make it easier to access and integrate digital curriculum from a wide array of resources. Within a year, we had TCC and CC from 11 vendors and LTI links from four additional vendors. This adds up to approximately 200 cartridges and almost 1 million digital learning objects.

So often we see standards organizations in the market where the standards they create are dreamed up by smart people in a vacuum. The simple fact is, if you don’t seek feedback from the people you serve, odds are you’ll create something that doesn’t work for them. That is not the case with IMS. The IMS approach is to bring together school districts and solution providers to jointly influence and develop standards that solve real world problems.
