H.R. 6460 The Great Lakes Legacy Act Reauthorization of 2008

Renews the federal funding authorization for the Great Lakes Legacy Act for five years at $150 million per year for the Environmental Protection Agency to carry out the monitoring, prevention, and cleanup of contaminated sediment in areas of concern around the Great Lakes. The bill also authorizes $5 million per year for research and development into new and innovative ways of cleaning up contaminated sediment.
 
H.R. 35 The Science Accountability Act

Amends the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to require states to: (1) establish challenging academic content and student achievement standards in science, beginning in the 2008-2009 school year; and (2) measure the achievement of students in grades three through eight against such standards, beginning in the 2009-2010 school year.
 
H.R. 1350 The Great Lakes Collaboration Implementation Act

A comprehensive bill which authorizes funding to prevent the influx of aquatic invasive species in the Great Lakes and other U.S. waterways, monitor and clean up polluted bodies of water, fund dredging efforts to improve the navigability of waterways, and a fund a variety of other projects around the country.

The bill authorizes spending for programs to improve science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and research programs, and reauthorizes and expands programs at the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Department of Energy.
