Electronic Field Trips

The National Air and Space Museum offers Electronic Field Trips (two-way distance learning interactions) as well as occasional webcast educational programs. A variety of sponsors and collaborators make access to such remote learning activities possible, including but not limited to Fairfax County Schools Network, Ball State University, and Apple Learning Interchange. Celebrating 100 Years of Flight: The Future Takes Off
Tour of the Steven F. Udvar- Hazy Center

This electronic field trip (EFT) featured the National Air and Space Museum's new Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, which opened in December of 2003. Students viewed aviation and space icons such as the SR-71 Blackbird and the Space Shuttle Enterprise, and learned about advances in flight from actual pilots, engineers and museum curators. Made possible by Ball State University. Grades 3-8.

The Wright Start
The Wright Brothers & The Invention of the Aerial Age

Teachers and students took an "electronic field trip" to the Museum's new exhibition, The Wright Brothers and the Invention of the Aerial Age on October 21, 2003. Portions of the free 90-minute program are archived and available for viewing online.
