At the April 10, 2008 meeting of the Natural Resources Commission Director Rebecca Humphries approved the Michigan State Forest Management Plan. The final document incorporates revisions based upon comments received during the January 29-March 14, 2008 public review period.

Michigan's State Forests are managed to provide for the conservation, protection, integrated management, and responsible use of healthy and productive trees, forests, and ecosystems for the social, recreational, environmental, and economic benefit of the people of the State.

• Queries: Interested in a certain place or "Year of Entry"?
To see a table of compartments by Year of Entry, look at some information for all compartments in a unit, or if you know a specific compartment and want to see which Year of Entry it belongs to, specific queries are available.

• Compartment Reviews Schedule
Each one tenth of the forest inventoried has a "Year of Entry" assigned.

In addition to the regular 2010 YOE Compartments described above, several FMUs have proposed treatments for red pine stands as part of Phase 2 of the Red Pine Project. These treatments will be discussed during the 2010 YOE open house and compartment review for each unit. The RPP is a special project designed to help balance red pine age classes by facilitating harvest and regeneration of some stands from 'out of entry year' compartments on State Forest.
