LANL Required TrainingAnyone who works for Los Alamos National Laboratory as a LANS employee, contractor, subcontractor or is an on-site visitor for 10 days or more in a year is required to be properly trained and authorized to perform work. The Department of Energy (DOE) requires that all workers who come on site take a core set of courses before they are authorized to do work on Laboratory property or property rented by the Laboratory. Each worker's tailored requirements will be assessed and explained by the worker's line manager. Although many Laboratory courses are web-delivered, most courses are live performance-based courses and require the student/trainee to be present in instructor-delivered class to view demonstrations and/or perform a task as part of passing the course. Furthermore, not all web-delivered courses can be made available on the Lab's external server because many contain business processes that are not public information. Finally, new hires and potential hires may not receive credit for web-based courses (listed below) until their Z-numbers (employee numbers) are in the official LANL Employee Information System (EIS). Having been assigned a Z-number as a interviewee or new hire does not necessarily mean that your official record is in EIS.
