Corps Seeks Input on Mobile Home Park Construction

Portland, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is evaluating a permit application from Arlie and Company to construct a mobile home park in wetlands adjacent to Silk Creek, in Cottage Grove, Lane County, Ore. The proposed project would require filling in about 0.3 acres of 1.20 acres of wetlands on the site. As part of its permit evaluation process, the Corps is requesting public comment on the proposed project prior to making its determination on whether to issue or deny a permit for the work.

The work will consist of constructing space for 47 lots with associated roads, sewer, storm and water systems. The Corps will consider whether the proposed project meets standards of the Clean Water and Endangered Species acts and will look at the overall impact of the project on the affected area.

For a copy of the Corps of Engineers’ Public Notice, which describes the proposed project in detail, please call Chris Thoms at (503) 808-4385, or access the notice on the Corps’ Internet site at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/notices/200000044.pdf. Photocopies of drawings supporting the proposed project are included in the public notice.

Written comments should reach the Corps by March 20, 2000, and should be mailed to
