About the mapThe USU Interactive Campus Map is built using Google Maps API. The current map is a beta release. Most functions are available and this is why it is now availble to the public. However, some functions will be developed in the future and more offices/locations will be added. The map has been tested in the current version of IE, Firefox, Opera, and Safari. If you are experiencing problems with the map, please contact Public Relations & Marketing. Getting aroundRollover the map with your mouse to see the default Google Map tools. On the top left, you have the choice to toggle the view between the campus map overlay, the Google Map road view, or the Google Map satellite view. By default, the map loads with the campus map overlay. Viewing detailsTo open building details, you can simply click on the building on the map. The browsing tools are located on the left of the map (buildings, offices, housing, etc...). Simply click on these links to reveal the different tools. You can browse the building list by name or by building code. You can browse offices by name the same way. Note that if you open a building detail on the map, the window will contain a list of offices/departments located in the selected building. You can then click on that list to access more details about the office/department. SearchingThe "search map" tab provides an easy way to find a building, an office, or a place by entering a keyword in the search field. Soon we will add a way to search by building code. PrintingThere is not currently any way to directly print the map. Google Map doesn't provide that function yet but we hope to have something available in the near future. For the time being, you can download and print different PDF maps. Click on the "other resources" tab to see a list of available downloads. Linking your website to the mapOffices and departments can add a link from their website (on their contact page for example) to the map to show visitors they are located. First open the popup window of the location on the map. At the bottom, click on the link "Link to this location". When the page has refreshed, Copy/Paste the entire URL in your browser and use it as an hyperlink to the location you clicked on. You can also bookmark this new URL. |
