The links on the left provide information about plant collections and how to deposit or request collection material. The following briefly describes the links on the left:
Base Collection: for the National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS): A brief overview of the seed collections for the NPGS stored at NCGRP with quarterly updated statistics on collection size and diversity.
Vegetatively-Propagated Germplasm: A brief overview of the vegetative-propagated collections stored at the NCGRP.
Security Back-up Storage: Describes the Safety Back-up storage option, which is also called “black-box” storage.
Plant Variety Protection Samples: Describes the process for depositing voucher specimens for Plant Variety Protection and the subsequent release to the National Plant Germplasm System.
Journal of Plant Registrations Samples: Describes the process for depositing voucher specimens required for The Journal of Plant Registrations and the subsequent release to the National Plant Germplasm System.
Trends: Provides a look at yearly statistics on samples received, germination assays performed, etc.
Germplasm Requests: Describes the process for requesting germplasm from collections within the National Plant Germplasm System.
Germplasm Submissions: Provides forms needed to deposit germplasm at NCGRP.
Protocols - Seeds: Describes procedures used to log in samples, test for viability, and store in NCGRP’s conventional and cryogenic facilities. Vegetatively-propagated germplasm: Describes micro-culture media, cryoprotectant solutions, cryo-exposure and recovery procedures.
U.S. contribution to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault: Describes U.S. initiatives to send NPGS seed to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway and provides a yearly update of progress.
