Animal Products

Animal products are staples in American diets, wardrobes, and medicine chests. Over half of U.S. farms raise animals, and animals and animal products contribute substantially to agricultural trade. ERS experts compile and analyze data on supply and demand for U.S. animal products, and on industry structure, pricing, trade, farm policies, production systems, and processing.

 Spotlights

Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Outlook—This report provides a monthly analysis of current developments in the livestock, poultry, and aquaculture industries. Aquaculture products are featured commodities at least twice a year.

Products Markets in 2005 and Forecasts for 2006—This report examines how uncertainty continues to shape the forecasts for animal products markets and trade in 2006. Potential and actual animal disease outbreaks, consumer sensitivities, volatile exchange rates, and growing competition from producers in other countries cloud U.S. trade prospects for major meats.
