PSP = Past, iPhone = Future

Thursday January 15, 2009
In an interview with Edge, Greg Joswiak, VP of iPod and iPhone Product Marketing, said this in reference to how the iPhone is different from the DS and PSP:
I think if you look at devices like the DS and the PSP, in a lot of ways, they’ve defined the past in handheld gaming, and I look at a product like the iPhone with the App Store, and I think it has the opportunity to redefine the future, from everything to how you acquire games – not to mention updating apps.
If you read through some of the responses from readers at Kotaku, it doesn't look like too many people are really taking the iPhone seriously as a gaming machine. One reader even compared it the the ill-fated and much-maligned NGage. I have to admit, I've been lusting after an iPhone, but I doubt it'll replace my PSP as my primary handheld gaming machine (and for the record, I also own a DS and a GBA SP, and I'm contemplating a WonderSwan). .hack for PSP

Thursday January 15, 2009
Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, source of much exciting PSP news, is reporting that .hack//Link is in development for PSP and will see a release in Japan sometime in 2009. There's no word about a North American release, but it seems likely since the PS2 games in the series were released here as were the manga and anime. (Via PSP World and Kotaku.)
