Welcome to the home page for the California Institute for the Study of Specialty Crops. The institute was created to advance research, discourse and educational opportunities related to agricultural policy.

Funding for the institute was made possible by a $3.2 million grant from the California Department of Food and Agriculture's Buy California Initiative. The institute is operated by Cal Poly State University's College of Agriculture.

The purpose of the interdisciplinary institute is threefold: (1) to conduct applied research on economic, policy and regulatory issues related to California specialty crop industries; (2) to conduct outreach to disseminate research findings among agricultural organizations and associations, legislators, policy makers, government agencies, and other stakeholders; and (3) to provide hands-on educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
