The purpose of the Native Plant Society of New Mexico (NPSNM) is to
educate New Mexicans on native plant identification, ecology, and uses;
encourage preservation of natural habitats; support botanical research;
and promote use of native plants for conservation of water, land, and
wildlife.
The society comprises hundreds of members; eight regional chapters, each
with its own unique programs, activities, officers and committees; state
executive officers and board of directors; and various statewide
committees. NPSNM publishes a quarterly newsletter for its membership
and other interested readers. Information about all these chapters,
activities, programs, and officers can be found on this website, along
with recent issues of the newsletter. The NPSNM also sponsors an active
grants program, enhanced by the Jack and Martha Carter Conservation Fund, which
provides thousands of dollars in grant funds for education and research
about the rich and diverse botanical heritage of the state.
