Farmland School Tax Rebate

Get started here

Since 2004, the Province of Manitoba has offered a rebate on the farmland portion of your school taxes. If you own farmland in Manitoba, you may be eligible for this rebate.

The 2004 rebate of 33% was increased to 50% in 2005. The rebate has been increased yearly and for 2008 it will be offered at 70%. The rebates for 2009 and 2010 will increase to 75% and 80% respectively.

Your farmland does not currently have to be in cultivation or used for grazing in order to be eligible for the rebate. The rebate applies to the farmland portion of your school taxes only and does not apply to residences or other buildings on your farmland.

The deadline for submitting the application for the rebate is three years after the end of a taxation year. The 2004 and 2005 rebate availability have both expired, and the applications for the 2006 rebate must be received by December 31, 2009.

If you require further information, please view the questions and answers document link below, or contact the Program Coordinator at FSTR@masc.mb.ca, or 204-726-7068.
