Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld hosts an honor cordon to welcome Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Borisovich Ivanov to the Pentagon at 11:30 a.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. Media must be at the Pentagon North Parking Entrance no later than 11 a.m. EDT for escort to the cordon.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz is in Washington. There are no public or media events on his schedule.

Army Col. Frederic Borch and Air Force Col. Will A. Gunn will conduct back-to-back press briefings today regarding military commissions. They will each discuss their respective roles as newly-named acting chief prosecutor and acting chief defense counsel for the Department of Defense Office of Military Commissions. The briefings will take place at 2 p.m. EDT in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon, 2E781. See press advisory for details.
