Board Certified Entomologists (BCE)

Step 6: Maintaining your certification

For those who are ESA members, the process of renewing their certification is simple. Simply check off the appropriate box on the ESA membership renewal form and pay the requisite fees. (click here to go to the ESA membership renewal page). The form will read your certification status from the ESA membership database and determine your certification renewal amount due.

Depending on where you live, your state pest control board might allow you to meet your certification requirements with that state by maintaining your certification with BCE. Click here for more information.

For those who are not ESA members, you can use this link to renew your certification online (coming soon), or merely send in a check, mastercard, visa, or money order payment in the appropriate amount and reference your desire to pay your certification renewal, including a copy of the BCE PMC renewal form. PLEASE be sure to include your identification number and complete name. You have three options for submitting this form.

  1. PDF

  2. MS Word file (You must right-click the link and choose "save target as", then select a local file location for your report)

  3. MS Excel file (You must right-click the link and choose "save target as", then select a local file location for your report)

Other Requirements to maintain certification:

  • Continued adherence to the BCE Code of Ethics, and
  • Every three years BCEs are required to submit a report that details their Continuing Education Units (CEUs). This report is called the Professional Maintenance and Certification Report (PMC). Full details of the PMC report can be found by clicking here.
  • If you are now retired and would like to renew at the BCE-Retired classification, please contact the Certification Coordinator and he will assist you in your application.

Other steps in the process to become a BCE:

Step 1: Determine eligibility

Step 2: Application

Step 3: Study for your examinations

Step 4: Select a proctor

Step 5: Take your exam(s)
