Revenue generated from the sale of lottery tickets provides financial benefits to support the operation of our five State-operated psychiatric hospitals. The New Jersey Lottery is proud of its contribution that helps sustain the critical mission of the Division of Mental Health Services (DMHS) to serve adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
In our State's psychiatric hospitals, the Division provides high quality care for New Jersey's citizens who have become disabled due to the severity of their mental illness. These mental health facilities accept persons in need of treatment and care only through referral done by emergency screening centers and short-term care facilities. Central to the Division's mission is the fact that these individuals are entitled to services that promote wellness and recovery.
