Volunteering and Internships in the Region
We strongly encourage interested individuals to volunteer their time to help others at the National Archives. Students from many fields, including Library Science, History, Women's Studies, and Political Science are welcome to perform an internship under the guidance of professionals in the field.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Acquire and apply expertise in genealogy, history, and basic records preservation
- Receive free photocopies, discounts on NARA merchandise, and attend special events
- No genealogy experience required for most positions! Training provided
Intern Opportunities
- Acquire archival skills, including preservation, description, and providing reference
- Receive college credit, if allowed by your school
- Work-study and co-op students encouraged to inquire
