The Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities (OMHD) works closely with state, tribal and local governments, as well as nonprofit organizations to improve health status and eliminate health disparities among Americans of all racial and ethnic groups. The combined resources of CDC/ATSDR and its partners provide the vital link between policy and practice.
The CDC is one of the major operating components of the Department of
Health and Human Services (HHS). CDC's major organizational components
respond individually in their areas of expertise and pool their
resources and expertise on cross-cutting issues and specific health
threats. For more information about the Centers, Institute, and
Offices (CIOs) that comprise CDC,
