Haleyville Tornado (Marion County) - October 18, 2007

EF-0

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed storm damage in southwest of Haleyville. It has been determined that the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with estimated maximum winds around 80 mph.

A tornado touched down just south of Hwy 129, southwest of Haleyville, at approximately 2:42 PM. The tornado tracked north northeast for 0.06 miles. The tornado damage path was 50 yards wide at its widest point. Only one home sustained damage. Damage to the home was a downed carport, awning, and all of the front half of the roof. Several trees were either uprooted or snapped off along the path, as well as one power pole toppled. Debris along the path was thrown some 20 to 30 ft into tree tops...while other debris was thrown 300 ft beyond the end of the path. A Tornado Warning was in effect from 2:25 PM valid until 3:15 PM.

Pebble (Winston County) - October 18, 2007

Straight Line Wind

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed storm damage northeast of Haleyville, in the town of Pebble. It has been determined that the damage was the result of straight line wind. Estimated maximum winds were around 60 mph.

Approximately a dozen shingles were blown off of a roof...one cedar tree and several large limbs were also blown down. The damage was confined to an area 300 yards long by 300 yards wide. A Tornado Warning was in effect from 2:25 PM valid until 3:15 PM.
