ATSDR to Hold Community Meeting and Availability Session Concerning
Washington County Air Quality Site in Marietta, Ohio

ATLANTA - The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will hold a community meeting, followed by a public availability session, to discuss air quality issues related to facilities operating at the former Union Carbide complex located on Route 7 in Washington County.
The community meeting and public availability session will take place on Dec. 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Washington State Community College, located at 710 Colegate Drive in Marietta. The community meeting will be from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. and gives residents an opportunity to hear about ATSDR and the agency's activities, mission, and goals. The public availability session will be from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. where ATSDR representatives are available to meet one-on-one with community members who would like to share their health and/or environmental concerns possibly related to the facilities operating at the former Union Carbide complex on Route 7.

ATSDR, a federal public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, evaluates the human health effects of exposure to hazardous substances. Established by Congress in 1980 under the Superfund law, ATSDR conducts public health assessments at each of the sites on the EPA National Priorities List, as well as other sites when petitioned. Headquartered in Atlanta, ATSDR is staffed by more than 400 health professionals including epidemiologists, physicians, toxicologists, engineers and public health educators.
